A house with a past
More than a century on State Street
Before there were bottles behind the bar, this white house was already part of Star. Public property records date it to 1903, when the town was taking shape along the old road between Boise and Caldwell.
Four years later, the property was recorded as Lot 4, Block 4 of McDowell’s Addition. That same year, the interurban reached Star, bringing electricity and a new wave of growth.
Star changed around the house. The house stayed.
Our patio is open — a cozy fire pit, wine tastings, and live music under the Idaho sky.

A short history
1903
The house
Public property records date the house to 1903, giving it more than a century of life on State Street.
1907
McDowell’s Addition
The property was recorded as Lot 4, Block 4 of McDowell’s Addition. That same year, Star’s interurban arrived and brought electricity with it.
2004
Helina Marie’s
Helen Collinson established Helina Marie’s inside these rooms, beginning more than two decades as a neighborhood wine bar and gathering place.
2026
The next chapter
Under new stewardship, the house begins another chapter—preserving its intimate scale while preparing it for the years ahead.

We’re restoring Helina Marie’s with a light hand—keeping the rooms, the light, and the sense of intimacy that make it feel like a home. The goal is not to turn the past into a theme. It is to let the history remain present while the house continues doing what a good house does best: bringing people together.
